PRICES DETERMINED BY INDIVIDUAL NEEDS

Examples of why pricing must be determined on a case-by-case basis. Some clients find it more cost-effective hire me with a monthly retainer with a max number of hours of work per month. This allows them to make sure I’m always available to work them into my schedule for whatever work might arise. It’s nice for them to have an extra set of hand available without paying for a full time employee.

Example 1 – Website Development

Client A wants to run her own marketplace e-commerce website and is very good with excel.  Client A is provided a CVS template and sets up her products on the CVS sheet for import into the marketplace.

Client B wants to run his own marketplace e-commerce web but has no time to set up his own products, CVS sheet or even run his website. Client B sends me a zip file of products information and images.

As you can tell, depending on the number of products, client’s B’s price would be higher because he wants me to run his website for him. Where Client A can or wants to be trained to run her own website.

Example 2 – Website Development, Maintenance, Training

Client A wants a business website with an appointment calendar, membership, and events. Client A has a long list of clients to be added to his membership. He wants an instructional video made for the interactive appointment. Client A has very little time to run a website and would prefer to have the website run for him.

Client B wants a business website with an appointment calendar, membership, and events. Client B is a new business with few clients. Clients will be invited to join the membership website. Client B feels the interactive appointment is self-explanatory however she wants extra training how to use her website by herself.

As you can see, these are two totally different scenarios. Client A needs a package with a high monthly rate because I will be running most his website for him. Client B is more interested in being trained so that she can run her own website, although I will still do the advanced maintenance and updates. I would refer Client A to the training section of the website for hourly rates.

Example 3 – Office Work

Client A is short staffed but doesn’t hire another person full time. They need excel sheets merged, updated and organized as on as need basis. Occasional they need other help with office work. This client has a shared cloud with me and drop files in the cloud. I am alerted to the changes to the cloud folder. I do the work and upload the files back to the cloud. This works well for the client before they don’t have to deal with unnecessary email and dealing with staff.

Client B needs data pulled from their system weekly, turned into a report to be email to the correct staff and clients. Then made into an excel sheet to be uploaded back into their database.

The difference here is the Client A hires me on retainer so they can send me work whenever they need help to catch them up. Were with Client B, it the same amount of hour each week so they only pay for those hours.
